I don't think it's possible to galvanize the insides of something like that, but if you can find a galvanizing shop, they'd be the ones to ask. I suspect Gas Tank Renu is probably as cheap as any other high-quality treatment. Another option is to try to find something new that will more or less fit. I found plastic boat tank at a marine shop that I put in my M37. If you're trying to save money, you can clean your existing tank as best you can, by taking it out, putting rocks and old nuts and bolts in it and shaking it around a lot, then dumping the whole mess out and rinsing it out with a hose. This might be good enough, along with an extra easy-to-change fuel filter, to get you by for quite a while. Or, once you have it clean, you can use some of that coating goop that J.C. Whitney sells for $40 or so and then report back about how well it worked. If it was me, I'd probably go with either "extra cheap" (clean it myself and see how it does) or send it to Gas Tank Renu. Once I started spending money on it, I'd rather spend more money and be sure it was going to last.
