I agree one coat systems make a lot nicer finish if done correctly. I hate clear coat it always turns milky and fails much sooner than a single stage paint. Look at all the cars that have seen a little sun and the clear is gone to heck. Repairs of clear always show and you have to paint a whole panel with the clear to make it look good. You can not blend and feather out clear very well. I worked with a guy that has painted lots of cars and he helped on my Carryall he says single stage and if you do use basecoat clear you always have to reshoot whole areas with clear. Additionally, factory clear seems to last much better than what the after market paint jobs do. Must be in the baking or something.
