fasteners for bed assembly 1952 B-3

Questions:
1. What is the correct fastener size and the correct bolt orientation for assembling the side bed panels to the front panel?
2. Do you need square washers here?
3. After the bed is topcoated, I guess it is not wise to try and sit the bed on the truck until I get either the bed boards to help support the sides or the rear fenders to bolt to the rear bracket, to help hold the bed up?
My truck's bed was disassembled when I originally got it.
