Mine is rotten too, think I'll use plywood and foam.

I've been driving it a bit with a wooden seat and a plywood back. Pot holes seem pretty bad, what with the one ton suspension.

But I'm 6'3" and 1/7th of a ton. I need all the leg room I can get. So I'm thinking I'll fab some hinges for the top, screw them to a sheet of plywood, spray glue 2" of foam, and cover with the vinyl upholstery stapled to the back side. Cheap, easy, and gain me some leg room. "Reproduction part"? Not very, but I'll call it an improvement. It'll do 'til I find somebody that will ship one reasonable. Or bring one to Hollister ?
