It's obvious to me and, I'm sure to others that there are many qualified individuals who frequent this forum. I'm sure we have apprentice electricians, journeymen electricians, electrical engineers, electrical contractors, etc., etc. My point earlier was that Mike made a post which started by saying "the safe and prudent course of action would be.....", and this in response to an individual who admitted that he didn't even know how to read the information on the ID plate on the motor. I have seen this happen many times when an individual offers safe and sensible advice and it's scoffed at or ridiculed by others who may be a little more willing to try something. If a person wants to move ahead and learn about it and do it, more power to him. I bought a set of oxy/acetylene bottles and torches and learned how to use them by trial and error. Others feel it's good to take classes. It probably is much smarter, but I didn't do it, and I can cut, braze and weld reasonably well for my own needs. I just don't think it's right to jump on someone for offering what might be sound advice to one, just because another doesn't think it's necessary. I appreciate every thing I have learned over my 65 years of life, whether it's through my own bone headed stubborness, or through someone elses advice. I have learned much from this forum, and I appreciate it as well. There is a wealth of knowledge available in this forum. Let's not discourage those who offer it by making them feel foolish because they did. JH
