LU-2 winch - lubrication

I am getting ready to connect the winch to the pto on my 1969 W-200. I have some John Deere corn head grease. I want to use the grease to lubricate the winch workings, but am not sure if I should mix the grease with gear oil. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
