Like Chris said propane likes high compression but you can run a flahead on it. many pieces of equipment have propane powered flatheads, but for a street vehicle you need to advance the timing 30 degrees to get back some of the power loss that comes with propane. (propane octane rating is 111) And shave the head as much as possible to raise compression, boring will raise compression also. Both those thing will improve power on gas also, but you would need to adjust timing back and forth when switching from gas to propane.
