Not sure when it changed but the first 6speeds had an 1-1/4" input shaft. They used to break & you can't get good clutches for them. Soon after...mid year they switched to an 1-3/8" shaft...that's the one you want.
If you took the VIN # of the truck into Dodge parts dept....they could tell you if the truck you're looking at has the bigger shaft or not.
I'm thinking by 2001 they were all 1-3/8".
You know it's an issue when they change something like that mid year.
