The latest case of mold was found on a binder stored in a safe, in a closet, on the 3rd floor - about as far away from the basement as I could get it. However, I wonder if the safe traps moisture? Air does not circulate very well in the closet as we seldom open the door to get in there, and certainly not through the safe. I do have packets of silica crystals in the safe along with the contents. There was a warning with the safe when I purchased it to not store photos in it.

I will try the vinegar solution on the leather. I may try Eric's suggestion about using the freezer also. What the heck? I commonly have Power-Wagon parts in there that I want to press repair sleeves onto! ;^) I do know that welders like to store welding rod in refrigerators to keep dry.

Thanks.

Junior
