Done it a couple of times - not a problem.
Remove, clean, and paint, refit screen, glue rubber in palce, then close the screen and let it sit for a couple of weeks to set fully.
I have seen people with real problems, and without exceptiong they have been due to the poor adjustment of the screen to the cab. Consider pulling the screen and all the mounting screws, plates, hinges (they could do with a clean and oil anyway, couldn't they?) Then re-fit the screen without the seal and get it centred and opening / closing correctly, then just glue in the seal and clamp it shut for a bit.

PS, I've always used the one piece seal from VPW - never the strip that you have to cut and glue the ends of.
