In 65'or 66' chrysler came out w/LA-273 eng.,worked well.In 67'or 68' they came out w/redesigned 318,the LA-318. From then until they redesigned the 318 in the 90's to the magnum design, the 60's LA-273-318-340 thru 70-80's LA-318,will interchange parts, including crankshafts.I believe the 360 came out in 70-71',its the same basic type block as the others but it alone has a different size crank, that will not work in the others. The HP340-360 use larger valved heads that will work on the 318 but you would need the 360 heads+intake for it to work. You lose a little compression this way but it will breath better.Chrysler NEVER put a factory 4bbl intake on any 318,from 68'-83'unless it might have been some police application.SO,use the 318 for gas milage or the 360 for more torque, you can't have both.Subscribe to HP MOPAR mag. they give the lowdown on anything HP MOPAR from the past to the present, even early Hemis.
