I only know the aftermarket tachs but I'm sure the factory unit is wired pretty much the same.
My Sun tachs have a wire to the coil, wire to ground, wire to headlamp switch, and a wire to 12volts positive.
I wish I had my manual with me, but I'm pretty sure the wire to the coil is connected to the negative terminal.
