Tim,
I'm currently test painting a few of the frame brackets with POR-15 and am very impressed. It doesn't leave brush strokes when applied with a brush. The biggest problem I've had is applying it a little to thick. My falt, not POR-15. I don't believe it is meant to be used as a primer for finish body work. Remember it is a coating, not paint. I plan on coating all of the under carriage with POR-15. I think if you used on your body parts it would give a thick look. Also, it can go on raw metal and I have bead blasted each part before coating and it sticks like glue.
If you call them and ask for someone to answer some tech questions they will be very helpful.
Good luck,
Randy Baker
