As vince says there is a notch cut out of the front crossmember on the driver side for the pto shaft. An alternative is to mount the winch on the inside lower part of the frame rails instead of on top. That should allow enough clearance beneath the crossmember and still be high enough to clear the front axle. Since you will need frame extension anyway this may be part of the project design. (As you likely know WC 1/2 tons came as winch models or with out winch, the winch model had longer front frame rails that were re-enforced, a cutout in the front cross member for the pto shaft and a tranny with the pto access plate on the driver side. The grill was 2 row vs. 3.) Hope this helps.
