Seperate the spring from the axle so the spring is just hanging there with NO load.
Remove the grease fitting on the end of the pin. Refer to the picture.

I use a old socket with some washers and a 3/8 fine thread bolt. The bolt wants to just be long enough to go thru the washers and socket and grab some threads in the pin. Then tighten down on the bolt and the spring will pull right out. DO NOT FORGET to remove the spring pin cross lock bolt on the shackle or it will not come out. If its not all the way out and still tight, go to a shorter bolt or add more washers.
