I have been giving my old iron
kerosene shines for years, yes it does attract dust, I don't know how to quite explain this but the metal seems to like the oil????? Sort of like wood likes oil.
Not a very scientific explanation.
We used to do the command cars like that when we didn't have wax. Shore made em purty.
