That's exactly what happens when you weld on an axle. Axlemasters here in the PDX area told me if you weld on an axle it WILL need straightening. No matter how you do it. One of my pet peeves since I found this out is the TV shows welding things on an axle. I have NEVER yet heard them address the fact that the axle will need to be straightened afterwards.
