Paul Mierop of Schroon Lake, NY, took a 3400+ mile trip through Labrador, Canada in 2005 with his “Sweetheart” 1943 Dodge WC-53 Carryall. It has a Cummins 4BTA Diesel and NV-4500 transmission, along with power steering, hydroboost disk brakes and 4:89 gears. Paul reports the only mechanical problem he had during his grueling trip hundreds of miles from nowhere was a sticky door lock.
