At that range, you could be leaving the transfer jet and heading into the main and/or enrichment valve circuit.

Or maybe it is the timing advance, They run smoother with both vacuum and centrifugal working.

But if you haven't checked your points recently, it is time. again. Get a dwell meter, and check them ...hmmmm... every 5,000 miles? And a timing light, you need to reset timing whenever you have reset points.
