engine stumble question

I have a 218 in my 48 Plymouth equipped with overdrive. It seems to stumble or run rough...just short of an outright miss, between 1200-1800 (tach reading). It starts and idles fine, it runs up to 3500 with no problem. But it always stumbles going through this range.

This occurs regardless of the throttle setting. Which jets are supporting the engine in this rpm range? I thought it might also be a points problem...but what do you guys think?
