I think he is talking about the like rubber, plastic flexible fenders such as on the new Jeep Wrangler. They have a "memory" so they are very resistant to damage when truck by objects such as rocks, trees, garage doors, pedestrians etc......

Man, those fiberglass prices make the $2,000 ebay fenders look like a good deal....= )
