My Dad and I are currently restoring on our 1964 W300. When we found the truck in the summer 2005, it was sitting in a junkyard up in Montana. We liked it so much we couldn't let it sit in the junkyard any longer. We later went up and brought it back to California that November. We used it for trimming and hauling tree branches and firewood. About a year later we got the itch to restore it so we started taking it apart. We got the drivetrain sandblasted and painted with John Deere Medium Gloss Black. We painted the engine (318) Chrysler Orange. We put new tires on the rear and painted all the wheels a nice white so that they would go along with the Desert Turquoise color that will be on the truck. We are also putting an LU-2 winch on this truck too. The truck originally had a winch on it but it had been taken off some time ago. It started off as a free winch and then we realized that we would have to replace the big round brass gear in order for it to work. There were almost no teeth left on the gear when we first saw it. The new gear was one of the last ones or the last that the Braden warehouse had. The price wasn't so nice though. Anyways we got all of the body sheet metal sandblasted except for the front fenders. The original cab's floors were shot so we found another cab off of a '65 D300 that we are using instead. When the cab was sandblasted, it uncovered all of the dents in the roof that had been filled with bondo. It has taken us some time to fix those and we are still not quite finished yet. I can't wait to get this guy running again. We have been up in Idaho and Montana looking through junkyards for parts and found a nice chrome grill and a few other odd and ends. We plan to bring it up to this year's California Dodge Power Wagon Rally in Hollister this October.
