So it was just one straight piece at the fender? Mine was missing, probably removed to make fitting a steel floor over the wood remnants easier. But I was thinking of doing some hammer and mallet work and fitting side strips around the corners of the fenders, but it looks like the center piece probably just gets the vertical part bent outward a skosh to fit the well a bit better, the bottom ledge stays straight.
Since it is the outer boards that hold up the bed sides, I guess they didn't rabbet them.
Can you measure the center piece? Is it the entire remainder of the 8 footer, 37", or a bit shorter?
