I found a little link, looks like a side plate from a master link on a roller chain. I guess it goes on the end of the push rod. Doesn't the other end of the return spring go into a cotter pin that goes through the cab firewall?
Right now I have the spring pulling sideways from the carb, to the fender liner. There was an interestingly looped heavy wire 'hook' there til last week, when I removed it to sandblast...
It's been three years since I took the cab apart...
