Considering the vintage vehicle the wiring diamgram is made for, my guess is:
F = To fuel gauge/accessories
A = To Ammeter
C = To coil
On your switch, the center post is used to magnitize the solenoid on a 4 post unit. It would go to the "S" terminal on the solenoid. The "I" terminal of the solenoid would by-pass the ballest resistor and connect to the coil.
Have you confirmed the terminals on the alt.? If they are as mentioned below you need an external regulator.
