confused with the Top Trunion Bushing on the Steering Knuckle.

The Axle bushing is inside the Axle housing and provides a bushing for the axles.

The Top Trunion Bushing is on the top trunion of the Steering knuckle and is the top pivot point on the steering knuckle. There is also a bottom trunion which provides the bottom pivot point on the steering knucke and has a bearing of the same deminsions as the top bushing.

Axle Bushings have no equal and must be replaced when they have reached their wear limits. They must be replaced with another axle bushing. But as fore mentioned, there are Junk repos out there, use caution.

The top Trunion Bushings have the save demenions as the lower bearing, including the race. Myself, many other owners and a few professional rebuilders, replace the top bronze bushing with the bearing. This reduces steering effort. Again caution is urged as the torque procedures listed in the Dodge Shop Manual CAN NOT!!! be applied when replacing the top bushing with the bearing.

As mentioned in the Knuckle Rebuild Album, the album in no way replaces or reduces the need of a Dodge Shop Manual. I would suggest you obtain a Dodge Truck Shop Manual for the year of your Power Wagon. In many cases, such as my manual, its the Master Shop Manual for 1967 and covers all Dodge Trucks, with sections for the Power Wagon. Keep your eye on Ebay for some good deals on Dodge Truck Shop Manuals.

No problem on your missinterpretation. I am, We are, here to help.

Paul
