At least I don't have to worry about waterin the plants for a while. I don't know how it works in other parts of the country, but back in Chi Town, there was no residential water bill.

When we moved to Uggville, they had just switched over to municipal water/sewage from our own well/septic. Then they went from a municipal well to water from Lake Michigan, from a brandy new pumping plant. When that happened, water costs went up.

One month (during the summer), we got nailed with a $250.00 bill. The heck with that, no more waterin the grass/plants. They're on their own. Let God water em & see if the county could collect. HA!

We run a dehumidifier in the basement, which pulls about 5 gal every 2 days. I'd dump the water into a bucket, then fill the garden bucket to water and new or troubled plants. Then I just saw somethin in one of the wife's junk books (what we call them Lillian Verdon type catalogs).

It was a rain barrel (remember them) that had a little spigot on the bottom. It had an opening on top just big enough for a downspout to fit & it also had a clamp for it to keep it all sealed. You could even screw on a garden hose to the spigot.

They wanted sumpthin like $130.00 for it (it was a 55 gal drum) + shipping. I happened to have an old Rubbermaid garbage can layin around (30 gal) & went & picked up a spigot for $4.00. Cut a hole in the can, installed & sealed the spigot, and now I'm good to go. Don't have to just dump all this extra water. Boy, I just realized how cheap I'm gettin. HA!
