Since these trucks, as far as I know, do not have a color code embedded in the VIN, or present on the data plate, I would say go ahead and do it. There will be no way for anyone to challenge your choice.
If you have the original Bill of Sale, and if that document states the original color, that would make a bit of a difference in my opinion.
You are, of course, recommending red as the other color, right?
