Interesting. So far around here, nobody's regulating the steepness of private roads, except what's covered under the Forest Practices Act. Can't do a big sweeping turn because it's just one steep hillside. As is, it might be tough to even carve out a 9' width without blasting. If 25% is easy for an M37 or M35, it's tempting to just push it a little more to 30%. When I eyeball it from across the valley, a straight-line road looks insanely steep, more like a skidder trail than a road. The purpose would be just to haul heavy stuff up the hill, and haul a few logs down from time to time. Most of the time, I'd just walk up.

Maybe I should be thinking more about what's safe to come down rather than what's possible to go up. I'm not sure I'd want to be coming down a 30% grade on a 9' wide road across a steep hillside in an M35, loaded or not. I should probably also think about getting the M211 brush truck up and down it, either to water the plants or in case of fire.
