Unless it is obvious that it is rusted beyond repair, take it to a radiator shop and have them clean it and seal it. Replace or clean the fuel line. Be sure to have a good fuel filter between the tank and the fuel pump. This is one of the first things I do when restoring an old truck because I want to start with clean fuel and then sort out problems from there.
