I had a straight 8 pontiac that I restored. rebuilt the engine replaced all the ign parts and set points to what the book said which was I think .018" it would NOT get any spark. for some reason I had to set the points at .011" tho get it to work right. I even checked with dwell meter when running and dwell was right on wtih points set at .011? Could be caused by mis manufactured points. But I would play with the gap till you get some spark. After testing your wires and such.
