Don't worry about it. U-Haul trucks are generally self-disabling. By the time you get to that first motel, it will have disabled itself. Once you figure out how it did it, you'll be able to disable it whenever you want. It's the ENabling that's tricky. I spent quite a while with a couple in a U-Haul about 80 miles north of Ely, Nevada who had inadvertently discovered the "disable" mechanism, but we never did figure out how to enable it. They were moving to California from points east and this wasn't even the first U-Haul that had broken down in the course of their trip. Of course they were told to just call if there's any problem. Except there's no phone out in the desert. There wasn't anything I could do, and for all I know they're still there. I've heard too many stories like that about U-Haul trucks.
