I lived and worked in a tough neighborhood for twenty years. I only had three batteries stolen and two vehicles stolen in that period.
As described below. Hard chain, around brake pedal, through steering wheel, around gearshift, with a decent "American" company padlock. See link.
Remove battery. Install portable movement alarm. Chain the hood closed by going through the handhold on the underside of the hood, through the framework near the radiator. Get a locking fuel cap.
Park truck with rear doors against a tree, building, guardrail, or rear of another truck or trailer. You often see semi's parked that way at rest stops.
Park where there is plenty of light and traffic.
