If a gas'er the rotor should work or.and pull the center wire and bring it in also. If a diesel, either pull the fuse that controls the fuel shut off valve or disconnect the fuel shut off wire at the valve. No Power to fuel valve = no fuel = no start !.

Or, Give Joan a 12 ga and ask her to stand guard outside. Caution, she may shoot you instead ha ha
