I bought my 47 WDX with the idea that I would use it off road for hunting and fishing with the kids. It was complete and running but had been plowed hard and put-up wet as it had been originally purchased by the U.S. Forest Service and then handed off to a local farmer who must have hauled timber and boulders on a daily basis. While I intended to use the truck primarily for off road use, I reasoned that I had to get " on- road" and "down the road" quickly in order to get off road in a timely fashion so early on I bought Ray Suiter's 318 conversion kit. Next came disc brakes, power steering suspended pedals, etc. Upon taking the truck apart. I found the frame had been cut, so I replaced it. Then I decided to completely rework the interior and exterior of the cab . Then I decided to buy repro bed sides and running boards, Then I bought....I could go on all night on what else I've done or will be doing to the truck but the bottom line is I haven't finished it after 6 years ( or is it 7?), can only drive it to the country club( if I belonged to one) when it's done and my kids are now grown and gone. I forgot to mention that VPW, Roberts Motor Cars, local Napa dealer, local body and paint shop, my mechanic and e-bay have had record profits during this time. Is there a support group I can contact?
