Your truck and progess sound about like mine. Zero rust on the frame and body. I'm going to paint mine as the cab had quite a few small dents and dings. But my restore has been painfully slow too. I think if I pull it down to the bare frame it will never get finished. I'll leave the cab on and the drive train stayed in place and was repaired accordingly. Bottom line,I would sand and paint it with the cab on. If you over do the body and paint work you would probably not take it out and really use and enjoy it. I'm doing the '50 just clean not overboard.
