These were the civillian version of the military 'Contact Maintenance Unit' or CMU built on Dodge M-56 chassis during the Korean War. They were designed for mobile vehicle maintenance with a built in Hobart PTO driven welder, oxy-acetyline cutting torches and other tools necessary to perform light and medium equipment maintenance and repair. A rare vehicle at any stretch! I am still researching these vehicles and if anyone has any other information...please email me!! A nice find!!!!
