Post Exchange Surplus (Clyde Wicklund)
19855 Sunnyside Road Boring, OR 97009
Kind of on the SE edge of the Portland suburbs. Had more truck parts and other interesting stuff than most of the newer "camo and paintball" type places, and had some interesting trucks in the parking lot the last time I was there. I heard he gave some truck stuff to a museum, but if you're in the area it might be worth checking out. It's the most "real" army surplus store that I know of that's left in the northwest.

I don't know if the Alaskan Junk Company is still in business, but I knew a guy who bought a working steam donkey engine there for $1000. The guy was my grandpa and the year was 1930-something, so they're probably no longer in business. He used it to log and to skid pieces of three free houses across the pastures from town and assemble them into one house which he raised a family in and lived in the rest of his life. $1000 was a hell of a lot of money back then so he must have thought it'd earn it back for him. I've driven by that logging camp restaurant place lots of times but never stopped. Sounds like I might have to stop next time.
