I had a ton of running around to do today, 3 different jobsites and a bunch of stops in between. I thought it would be fun to take the Power Wagon. All told I put on about 80 miles, country, city, all types of conditions, including a torrential downpour with hail. The old girl ran great the whole time, it was great!
I got back to the shop at about 4:30, and needing to unload some stuff, went to back up to the door. I put her into reverse, let out the clutch and didnt move. Thinking I must not really be in reverse, I took it out of what I had thought was reverse and put it back in, again, no move. Put her into 1st, moved right ahead, reverse again still nothing. I tried revving it up in reverse and here is where it gets wierd. The truck tried to move bach but couldnt quite get going enough. It was like an automatic that is slipping due to a lack of oil.
The tranny is an NP-435, it was brand new when I put it into the truck, I doubt I have 500 miles on it.
It acted like a slipping clutch, but I have never seen a clutch that would slip in one direction and not the other, and also no smell. The clutch is also new.
Any insights?
Thanks,
Tim, baffled in VT.
