assuming the tow vehicles brakes and tires are good, weight is what keeps the rear end of the tow vehicle stuck to the road. The resistance to jacknifing is strictly determined by the coefficient of friction between rubber and pavement, and the amount of weight on those tires. All the other variables are insignificant. Towing anything that doesn't have brakes with an empty pickup is a recipe for disaster.
