9:30 PM - Watching the fireworks last night, we get a call from my daughter's boyfriend Jeff, explaining that he has broken down in the middle of an intersection in town - his car won't shift into gear. I said no problem, we'll be down as soon as the fireworks are over.

With one road in and out of town it took about 30 minutes to go 2 miles. Jeff got help and pushed the car into a gas station. I asked him if he had pedal, and he said it did, we check the clutch master cylinder, and the fluid was OK. I tried shifting the car, noticed that the shifter was hot as a pistol, but it went in and out of gear, so I tried to start it.

In first gear, pedal to the floor, turn the key, and the car jumps forward. Shift to neutral, start the car, now can't it into gear. Too dark to see much, this Nissan is so low to the ground, I can't crawl under. Call AAA.

While waiting for a tow, am approached by a local who needs a light (and a bath, and a place to sleep). Gave the guy a light, and proceeded to be entertained by this guy playing the air harmonica for the next 30 minutes. Rain starts.

11PM - Tow truck shows up, driver is a nice guy, but had a long day. Rain is now torrential, lightning and thunder included. Soaked to the skin, we got back and unloaded the car.

11:30 PM Loaded Shooter into the DVD
12:30 AM Woke up and shut off the TV, maybe I'll watch it tonight, I've already read the book.

Any thoughts on the clutch?
