In getting my Command Car on the road I decided to add a mirror to the passenger-side, but I didn't want to add holes or make a permanent, non-standard installation.

There's a small bracket with a 5/16-inch hole at just about the right spot for a mirror (part of the canvas doors when mounted. I took a piece of mild steel 5/16-inch stock, threaded both ends and then bent it into a perfect "J" hook. the short end slips into the bracket and with a nut above and below the bracket cinches up nicely.

I add an unusual foreign military mirror that I'd gotten years ago from the Sportsman's Guide that was designed to clamp to the metric equivalent of 5/16. It clamps, swivels up and down and pivots side to side on the rod. It works perfectly, looks "right" from a distance and greatly increases my comfort zone on the road. You sit down pretty low in a '41 and it's impossible to see what's on your right side without a spotter or this mirror.

My next project is to figure out a period blinker set that can be removed easily for show. I've got a vintage set of blinkers with the arrows showing front and back. Mounted on the hood or on the brush guard, they may well be visible enough, but I think I'll also look at adding the rear blinkers while at it.

It's one thing to use hand signals on a jeep, but I'm not sure that everyone will notice or pay attention to hand signals from a behemoth like "Mildred", that was my mother's name and I'm trying it out to see if she (CC) likes it or is suited to another name.

Hope my posts aren't too wordy tonight. I've got some serious personal challenges (14 and 16 year old boys)and after today, I needed to think about something else.
