I hear what you're saying, but he's talking about a tractor, where you have to break the machine in half to get at the clutch. It's not like "just" pulling the tranny out of a truck. If none of the easy methods work, or he tears the lining loose, then there was nothing lost for trying and he has to separate the tractor anyway to fix it. On the other hand, if one of the expedients does work, he's save a huge pile of work. There's no telling how tight it's stuck at this point. Could be that just blocking the clutch pedal down for a couple weeks will free it up. Or it could be completely rusted in place and it'll need a full clutch job anyway. Just seems to me it's worth trying the easy fixes first, especially when the worst that can happen is he has to then do it the hard (and correct) way.
