When I do the math I get closer to 80,000 trucks

If you look at the list 1957 does not list any trucks, but I know there were 1957 K6-W300 PWs made. Also I have seen other numbers that do not agree with some of the numbers on that list, so I think the total is over 80,000. Then if you include M601s, and trucks made after 1968 I bet there are 100,000 or more.

As to why there are only 477 in the registry, it is because folks do not want to add their trucks (various reasons have been given), or they do not collect the numbers off the trucks they find in their travels.

I try and get the numbers off of every PW I see in my travels, and I add every one I can to the registry. I have added somewhere between 15 and 20 trucks, and only one was a truck I owned.

I know there are thousands of Power Wagons out there, if you watch E-bay there are often 4-5 trucks up at a time, and I have never failed to find one listed when I looked.

Figure 3 new trucks a week, 52 weeks a year, that is 156 PWs listed on E-bay every year, and I bet that number is low.

Also there are all the guys who sell trucks on Trader Online, or Joe's classifieds.

If I made the effort to collect the numbers from every one of those trucks I bet I could add 500 to 1,000 trucks to the registry every year.

Then add in all the trucks that are never advertised online, and all the trucks that are just not for sale, and the numbers get even higher.

I bet there are over 10,000 trucks left in some condition, even if many of them are just stripped hulks, beat and rusted parts trucks, or bare frames.

I wish more people would register trucks, as it would be good to get a better idea of how many trucks are out there.

Eric
