I replaced the brushes in the generator and polished the contacts on the 3 coil VR. I had the Generator tested, but not the VR.
Where (contact points) and when (RPM's?) should I be seeing 14.5V? I have checked everywhere and am getting at most 13.9V.
Should I try adjusting the VR and see if I can get 14.5V? How do I adjust it and what will I screw up by adjusting too far?
I can only assume that I have the stock VR, I have never seen another FFPW up close before. It has three coils and the one closest to the engine opens at low RPM's.
