More Electrical Woes

Well, after I thought I had all my electrical problems solved, I am experiencing dead batteries again. So here is what I did:

1. Voltmeter says low voltage (Forget how low, 10V maybe)

2. I jump the truck and let it idle for a long while.

3. After shutting down, battery was not charged so I have to jump again.

4. This time, I check voltage while at idle. --- 10.5V

5. Check voltage at high RPM --- 13.9V

So, at higher RPM, I noticed that one of the contacts on the voltage regulator was closed. At low RPM, it is open.

So...I get a dead battery when I let it sit at an idle for very long. If I keep up the RPM's up, I will charge it fine and be ok.

What exactly does this mean? Is there an adjustment for the Voltage Regulator that will make it close that one contact point at low RPM's?

I'm stumped, so anything helps.

Thanks,
Michael Fanoni
