Get the appraisal. I have had it done on several trucks. When one got wrecked they offered $2,000 instead of the $8,000 I had it insured for. I had a professional appraisal done a couple of years before that that had a stated value of $8,200. As soon as the insurance company saw that they paid the whole amount. The appraiser also did work for the insurance company so they could not complain. The money spent for the appraisal way well worth it. I just had another truck appraised last summer at Hot August Nights. It was $225 and well worth it.
Don't be cheap it saved me $6200 on the first truck for a $150 appraisal. Well worth it!!! It stops the arguments if it is done by a professional appraiser.
