I wish I could just yank it out right now. Unfortunately my backhoe still doesn't run and the yard "remediation" guys want to put the topsoil back asap. I could ask them to hold off a while, and maybe I could hand dig around the tank and yank it out with the bomb hoist on the M35. That's assuming it doesn't extend under the concrete driveway or concrete steps to the side door. Once the "remediation" is done, you're not supposed to dig through the filter fabric they put down under the clean dirt. Given that the whole "remediation" routine is ultimately supervised by the EPA (Kellogg Superfund), I'm not sure that now is the time to say "Hey, can you hold off a while while I yank this rusty old tank of oily sludge out of the ground?" On the other hand, if I could get one of the workers to leave me the keys to their mini-excavator when they quit for the day...
