Can you imagine why they would start putting diesels into anything but trucks?? They last too long. Even if 5 to 10% of the people started keeping their cars longer due to better engines they could not sell you a new one in 3 to 5 years. Most people dump their cars with less than 100,000 miles as they are afraid that the engine will need work and not last much over 100,000 miles without major work. What would happen if cars came out with 300,000 mile engines and people knew thay would last that long. Then they would ask for better car bodies.

I have always wondered why Dodge did not put the Cummins BT4 in the Durango and other smaller pickups. Think of all the people with the 3/4 and 1 Ton Rams that would buy one for their wife. It would turn a low milage Durango into a high MPG vehicle that could tow a trailer and take the family too.
