There is normally very little arch on the front springs. My 51 ff PW has an eight spring pack on the front and I measure 4 3/4 between the frame and the top of the spring. This is with the stock engine and unloaded. These springs were rebuilt about 3 years ago.
My 42 WC53 has a 9 spring pack that were NOS when I put them in. They have 8,000 miles on them. I have 4" between the top of the spring and the frame. But it has a V8 in it. I would suspect that it should be a little more than it is. The top spring on this tuck has basically no arch to them.
